Buyers’ Guide for Trampolines from Berg Toys - Berg answers YES to all the following checklist items

Does the trampoline you are thinking about have:

A frame that is galvanised both on the inside and outside
Galvanisation means the application of a durable rustproof layer that increases the trampoline’s durability. If the frame is galvanised on both the inside and outside then the trampoline can be kept permanently outdoors.

A wide protective edge
The wider the protective edge, the greater the overlap with the springs. This means that the springs will always be protected, even when jumping, thereby avoiding any risk of getting caught in the springs. Furthermore, when the protective edge hangs a long way over the top rail, it will remain secure in its position much better than if it hangs only a slight way over the top rail.

A thick protective edge
The thicker the filling, the greater the protection in the event that the jumper falls on top of it. The type of filling itself is also important: if it is made of ‘closed-cell foam’ then the protective edge will not absorb any moisture and this will make it more durable.

Good jumping capacity
Double cone springs (whereby the spring is thicker in the middle than at either end) provide an optimum, secure and comfortable jump. They can also ensure that the energy in the spring is better distributed so that the forces on the body are gentler (e.g. using the ‘Goldspring’ spring) and the jumper can thereby jump higher with greater comfort and confidence. If the springs are also galvanised on the inside and outside, they will be much more durable than springs not galvanised in this way.

A durable jumping mat
The jumping mat should be of good quality to increase jumping quality. A jumping mat should not be too slack so that it sinks too much during jumping; the mat must be at least 60 cm off the ground. The way that the jumping mat is attached to the springs is an important feature to note. The greater the amount of stitching, the stronger the
attachment. It is also important that the centre point of the mat is marked, so that jumpers can always jump in the middle of the mat.

Lowering the trampoline or setting it in the ground
If a trampoline can be lowered or set into the ground, this reduces the height of any fall, thereby increasing the safety of the trampoline. Lowering a trampoline is possible if the legs of the frame can be shortened or removed altogether.

Safe assembly and use
If it is not clear how to assemble or use the trampoline, it is then difficult to guarantee safety. It is therefore important that proper instructions are provided. Moving pictures are a more effective way of providing instructions than using written text.

Jumping options
By instructing users of the trampoline on the options for jumping, this makes the use of the trampoline by an experienced jumper fun and challenging and the experienced jumper can thereby confidently practice his/her jumps. By learning to jump by looking at illustrations and watching moving pictures, it is possible to watch them more often, follow them more easily and thereby encourage safe use of the trampoline.

Testing certificate
By choosing a trampoline that is approved by a European Testing Institute such as TÜV or AIB Vinçotte, the quality and safety of the trampoline is guaranteed.

A long guarantee period
If the quality of a trampoline is good, then there should be a long guarantee period as proof of this guaranteed quality in order to provide worry-free trampolining fun.

Offering a good service
If following the time of purchase a good after-sales service is provided, then you can be sure of years of jumping fun. This service can consist, for example, of a continued supply of spare parts years after the actual sale.
